Easter Egg Hunt
Date: Saturday before Easter 10:00 am sharp, listen for the siren Location: Malad City Park Cost: Free EMS Facebook Page Each year, on the Saturday before Easter is the Malad Easter Egg Hunt hosted by Oneida County EMS. It is held at Malad City Park for children ages 0-12. Many private citizens and local business owners get involved by donating eggs and helping the Easter Bunny hide eggs for the children. 40 lucky children will find golden eggs that they can exchange for a special prize. The Easter Bunny will be on site for photos, though no photographer will be present. |
Evening of the Arts presented by
Nell J. Redfield Memorial Hospital Foundation Date: April 6, 2023 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm Location: Oneida County Events Center Cost: Free to attend Hospital Facebook Page An enjoyable evening of art and auctions benefiting the hospital and long term care. A few select local artists are chosen to share some of their work with the community. Also on display is work from art students at the high school, middle school, elementary (4th & 5th grades) and local art studio. There are silent and live auctions for some amazing items kindly donated by community businesses and organizations. |
Renaissance Faire & Baby Animal Spring Festival
Date: May 5-6, 2023 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm Friday and 10:00 am - 8:00 pm Saturday Location: Malad Valley Heritage Square at 4566 W. 4400 W Cost: $8 for 4-12 yrs old and $12 for 13+ Festival Facebook Page Hear Ye, Hear Ye, you are cordially invited to attend the annual Renaissance Faire and Baby Animal Spring Festival at Malad Valley Heritage Square. There will be a wide variety of performers, artisans and entertainers. You can join the royal court at a banquet or attend a party with the Princess (both for an additional fee.) Don't forget the adorable baby animals. |
Malad Classic Car & Bike Show
Date: First Saturday in June 10:00 am - 4:00 pm Location: N. Main St. Malad Cost: Free Car Show Facebook Page The show is open to all year custom and restored vehicles along with pre-1977 vintage campers, trailers & unique vehicles for judging. It can be a fun day for the family with local vendors, food, raffle prizes, and rock n roll music with JC Hackett. The car show is held the first Saturday of June each year. |
Malad Valley Welsh Festival
Date: June 30 - July 2, 2023 9:00 am - 7:00 pm Location: Malad City Park, Malad Valley Heritage Square, and Downtown Malad Cost: Free Festival Website The 2-day Festival features Celtic music on the amphitheater in City Park; harp, family, youth, and piano ensemble concerts; adult and youth poetry competitions and readings; youth art exhibit; “Art on Main;” history presentations; “Walk through Wales” photo exhibit; displays of family history and census records for pioneers to Malad Valley; wagon rides to historic sites in downtown Malad; tours of Presbyterian Church; Quilt Show and Bake Sale; pioneer games; kids’ activities; craft and gift vendors, including the “Welsh Country Store”; food booths, including “A Taste of Wales”; and kids activities and tours of historic cabins at Samaria Heritage Square. The finale event is the “Chairing of the Bard,” who is the winner of the adult poetry competition. |
Quilt Show
Date: June 30 - July 1, 2023 10:00 am - 5:00 pm Location: Historic Co-Op Building at 33 Bannock St. Cost: Free Quilt Guild Facebook Page Each year the Oneida Quilt Guild shows off their members' amazing handiwork with a quilt show held in conjunction with the Welsh Festival. The show is more than just quilts, there is also a bake sale and raffle quilt tickets for sale. All proceeds go back into the community through charity quilts. |
Hometown 4th of July Celebration
Date: July 3rd & 4th, 2023* Location: Throughout Malad Cost: Almost everything is free Experience the best small town 4th of July around. There are a variety of events including a Children's Bike parade and Malad's Got Talent on July 3rd. July 4th starts off with a Cannonade throughout the city, 1 mile/5k/10k Fun Run, Pancake Breakfast, Parade, Kids Races, Concert in the Park, Malad's Got Talent Finals, Concert and Fireworks to end the night. *If either day falls on a Sunday, then that date will be celebrated on Saturday, not Sunday. Malad Straw Maze
Date: Throughout October Location: 1855 N. 500 W, Malad Cost: $6 per person Maze Facebook Page Nothing says fall in the country like a maze in a field. Instead of corn, Malad has hay. There were over 800 bales in 2022. Make sure you check their Facebook page for any specials they might be running including date night, scavenger hunts, haunted maze or trick or treating. Don't forget flashlight. |
